Ike Nxedlana
Chief Executive Officer
Ike has operated in both local and national spheres of government,as well as in the private sector where he has held senior positions in three of South Africa’s major banks, namely FNB (Barclays), Nedcor and Absa.
He has an excellent track record in successfully implementing both the Public Finance Management Act and the Municipal Finance Managements Act at the Department of Public Enterprises, where during his tenancy as Chief Financial Officer the Department obtained unqualified Audit Reports for four successive years and at the City of Cape Town (Metro) where unqualified Audit Reports were achieved for two years he held the position of Chief Financial Officer. He managed to ensure that both these State organs met the requirements of efficiency, effectiveness and economy and lead the process for the City of Cape Town to obtain its first ever credit rating. He has an excellent understanding of the legislative framework supporting the effective, efficient and economical management of Public finance.
Ike has chaired various committees including the Bid Adjudication Committees of both State organs in which he served. He organised and led the team establishing the Municipal Finance Development Programme which was launched in September 2007 during the Institute for Municipal Finance Officers’ (IMFO) annual conference. He has delivered papers in many conferences, at times sharing the stage with Cabinet Ministers, Premiers, MECs and senior public officials.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone, he reports to the Board, and he is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the organisation
